Karnali Integrated Rural Development and Research (KIRDARC) is an NGO dedicated to uphold the rights of marginalised and excluded communities through its interventions on Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance with special focus on building capacities of right holders, duty bearers, and civil society. For more than 19 years it has been driven by a passion for developing the capacity of poor and marginalized people protecting and promoting their rights for inclusive and equitable development. KIRDARC has reviewed, reframed and refined its strategy periodically as deemed. It has emphasised resilience to disaster and climate change as one of the important crosscutting and mainstreaming thematic area.
KIRDARC is advocating mountain issues in Nepal to enable mountain communities to adapt and become more resilient to the effects of climate change, disaster risk management, biodiversity conservation and resources management and connect grass root issues with national policies /priorities and program.
Currently, it has been working through well-equipped offices in Province 6 (Jumla, Humla, Kalikot, Dolpa, Mugu and Surkhet) Province 5 (Kapilvastu) Province 3 (Kavre) and Province 7 (Dadeldhura, Kanchanpur, Bajura). Currently, it has more than 15 ongoing projects with INGOs, UN Agencies and government agencies through its more than 200 competent full-time staff and volunteers.
