Finance Coordinator

Ms. Anuradha Acharya is a member of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India has Her expertise, inter-alia, is in regulatory approvals, licenses, registration, Budgeting, other Company Law and Finance related matters for any organisation set up in India.

She has good exposure to compliance audit and compliance management system, legal due diligence, drafting and vetting of various legal agreements. She has a wide experience in Handling compliances in regard to Secretarial Compliance Audit, Due Diligence and other related issues.

Communication Assistant 

Divyanshi is working as a Communication Assistant at CAN South Asia, currently working and living in New Delhi, India. Her areas of focus as a communication assistant are handling social media platforms like (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), collate and amplify climate change stories network with dissemination of members work across, framing messages for CANSA members and handling CANSA website by updating it on a regular basis. She is an enthusiastic and creative team player able to implement organizational mission and visions through positive leadership collaborative skills and desire to cultivate relationships. She possesses excellent communication skills along with strong managerial and interpersonal skills. She is also a part of the CAN Comms team. Academically, she is a Digital Marketing graduate. She completed her Masters from the University of Westminster London, UK.

Program Coordinator

Lalmani Wagle has decade long experience on climate field. He has been working with Clean Energy Nepal since 2018, is currently leading the organization. He led the numbers of climate and clean air related projects and programs focusing community led climate resilient building activities as well as evidence based advocacy in National and sub-national level. He coordinated Climate Change Network Nepal, a coalition of organization working in climate change in Nepal as a focal person from secretariat and is facilitating CANSA-Nepal as a focal person from secretariat. He completed M.Sc. in Environmental Science from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.

Project Coordinator and Social Media Manager

Maryam Shabbir Abbasi is an Environmentalist at Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). She is advisory member to National Standing Committee on Climate Change in Pakistan. She is also Social Media manager at SDPI and manages digital communications. Ms Abbasi is MPhil in Environmental Policy and Management. Her area of work includes climate induced migration, water governance, air, water and plastic pollution.

Program Coordinator with CAN South Asia

Based out of New Delhi, Nakul Sharma is part of CAN South Asia secretariat coordinating various capacity building and advocacy driven programmes. Having done a Masters in Renewable Energy, his main area of interest is Clean Energy Advocacy, promoting locally driven climate action and How Energy Policy & Trade together can accelerate clean energy transition cooperation and prove to be a  game changer for long term regional peace and progress in South Asia. With a fair amount of experience in designing, implementing and monitoring, programs on Community Based Adaptation, drafting Policy reviews on Climate Finance & Low Carbon Development. Nakul is leading research within CANSA  on projects that aims to integrate Climate knowledge and capacity building efforts at Subnational, National and International level. Nakul is also actively involved as a researcher in various other programs/projects implemented by CANSA.

Communications Associate

With over two decades of experience in corporate communications, Purnima combines her skills in creative and communication along with her passion for working for the community. She has worked on a multitude of projects in waste management, circular economy, building active citizenship in the community, some of which have won awards. These also include a project on building climate resilience for UNICEF as well as some award-winning projects. She has been associated with several NGOs in an advisory capacity for over 10 years, and has recently been inducted into the Climate Governance Malaysia Secretariat.

Program officer with CANSA

Her responsibility includes facilitating research, coordinating with member organisations, building technical capacity and spreading awareness among diverse stakeholders on issues like adaptation, climate induced migration, loss and damage. 

Before joining CANSA she worked as a research fellow at Odisha Space Application Centre, Bhubaneshwar. She is a postgraduate in Geography from Utkal University.

Director , Climate Action Network South Asia 

Sanjay has been actively working towards mobilising civil society action on Climate policies in South Asian Countries and Region. Under his leadership, CAN South Asia have increased its membership base from 20 to 200+ NGOs spread in South Asian Countries. The network has successfully consolidated Climate Actions of NGOs in the region and has build bridges with Government as partners. The combined approach of implementation-networking-advocacy-training has scaled up the outcomes from Climate Actions through implementation and policy.

The network has successfully documented the sectoral information in context with Climate impacts / responses in South Asia. The initiative has yielded desired results through informed climate policies in South Asian Countries. Previously he has worked as Advisor to Climate Policy Program of Heinrich Boell Foundation in India and Fellow with The Energy and Resource Institute in New Delhi; International Coordinator for Climate Action Network International (CANI) in Bonn and Natural Resource Scientist with Development Alternatives in New Delhi – coordinating the activities of ENGOs network also acting as focal point for ENGOs constituency of observers under UNFCCC. pursuing career in climate change science and action as well as Natural Resource Scientist among rural communities of Central India implementing community based projects objectives towards strengthening sustainable livelihoods.

He has authored, co-authored and facilitating drafting of many technical papers framing climate solutions and finding convergence on policy-practice linkage. He has been team member of technical teams constituted by multi-lateral agencies to assess the impacts of climate variables of vulnerable communities and frame policy recommendations to address them on short term and long term basis in Asia and Pacific Countries. Academically he is a ‘Forester’ with Graduation and Post-Graduation in Forestry from India. He completed his Master in Agro Forestry from Gujarat Agriculture University and Graduation in Forestry from Konkan Krishi Vidhyapeeth, Maharastra. He has 14 years of experience in Natural Resource Management, Implementation of Adaptation in key sectors and following International Climate Change discussions on various platforms for future climate change regime.

Program Coordinator

Based out of Puri, Odisha, Santosh Patnaik is part of CAN South Asia core team leading the delivery of District Climate Resilience Plan of 6 districts in Madhya Pradesh. He is also involved in projects on energy transition, and community based adaptation planning. His interest areas are low carbon development, just transition and communication of climate change. He studied for Masters in Environment and Energy Management. He has previously worked with M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai on adaptation aspects on bioenergy and Foundation for Ecological Security, Anand on ecorestoration and forest conservation.

Senior Advisor, Communications & Advocacy

Shailendra Yashwant is an independent documentary photographer and environmental journalist based in India. He has been documenting, reporting and campaigning on environmental issues across Asia for over three decades now. He has previously worked with Greenpeace in India and Southeast Asia as Campaigns Director where he led campaigns on deforestation, phase out of fossil fuels, uptake of renewable energy, and protecting our oceans.

He has partnered with many organisations including Save The Children (New Zealand), Oxfam (India), UNICEF (India), Sanctuary Nature Foundation (India), Changing Markets Foundation (UK), Health Care Without Harm (India), Thanal (India) and Swedwatch, on projects ranging from environmental investigations into industrial pollution, to designing and reviewing communications and advocacy strategies for mitigation, adaptation and disaster risk reduction projects.
