The dominance of fossil-fuel needs to end to give way for renewable energy and other sustainable economic activities. It involves end of fossil fuel subsidies and phasing out coal while delivering access to energy in a socially just and equitable manner. In India, the change will have economic, social and employment impacts on communities dependent on fossil fuel in general and coal in particular. Early preparation for the imminent change at community level will have economic, environmental, and social benefits. The project initiates the process of preparation for clean energy transition mobilising social partners and resources for stakeholder engagement.
