South Asia is deeply interconnected through its ecosystems, rivers, climate systems, economies, and communities, while facing shared and growing climate risks. Climate change does not recognise borders, and addressing its impacts therefore requires stronger regional cooperation, solidarity, and collective action. Against this backdrop, CANSA's Regional Dialogues bring together civil society organisations, regional institutions, youth networks, researchers, and other stakeholders to exchange experiences, identify shared priorities, and strengthen collective approaches to climate justice and resilience.
The dialogues have explored key regional challenges including adaptation and loss and damage, climate-induced displacement, food and livelihood resilience, air pollution, inclusive climate governance, and equitable access to climate finance. They also highlight the importance of local and community-led solutions, indigenous and traditional knowledge, youth participation, and cross-border collaboration. Through these conversations, the Regional Dialogues aim to connect knowledge and experiences across South Asia and encourage greater collaboration, collective advocacy, and action towards a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable region.
The Regional Dialogue, held in Kathmandu on 22 April 2025, brought together representatives from regional institutions, civil society organisations, youth networks, researchers, and government to explore pathways for strengthening climate resilience through regional cooperation. Discussions focused on shared climate and environmental challenges across South Asia, the role of communities and young people in building resilience, opportunities for cross-border collaboration, and the need to strengthen collective approaches to climate action, knowledge sharing, and climate finance. The dialogue highlighted the importance of connecting local experiences and solutions with regional platforms to advance a more resilient, inclusive, and climate-just South Asia.
