South Asian Parliamentarians and Policymaker’s at Work: Putting Climate Adaptation, Food Security, Population Dynamics Back in the Agenda

Climate Action Network South Asia (CANSA), in partnership with SDPI, LEAD will be organising a workshop for, on 16th – 18th December 2013 at Hotel Marriott, Islamabad to deliberate on the various cross cutting issues that should form the core of regional climate policies. The multi-disciplinary gathering will have a forward looking agenda where the experts will link the national and local actions with regional strategy and their policy impacts pertaining to the region.

This workshop is organised by CANSA, in the capacity of a Sub-Regional Node for the Asia Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN) and, consortium partner for the Oxfam led project on building capacity of Stakeholders. The event is closely supported by  the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and LEAD Pakistan as National Implementing Partners in collaboration with the European Commission, Asia Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN), Ministry of Environment Japan, Global Water Partnership, Oxfam and Asia Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD).

The event will focus on the important component of governance in addressing climate change in the region, and how it implicates on the climate agenda, thus needing collaborative efforts of the regional actors.

In order to achieve this objective, the workshop will create a platform for the likeminded Members of Parliament to network with for future coordinated actions on adaptation, mitigation and other thematic areas of relevance to the region.
